If you only read one post, read these updates. These posts are where I ask for your help in promoting my writing and business. These posts are where I tell you what has been happening in my life. These posts are what I pray you will see why you support me in my work. I thank you for reading them, for it is people like you that help me continue to do what I need to do.
So what’s new in the life of Marie?
I published a short story on Short Fiction Break.
My short story, Be Strong and Courageous, is about a young woman who must face her fear of a royal guard to do the right thing. I am so blessed to enter into this writing contest, where I could be published by a professional group of writers and have a chance to be placed. I won’t find out until the end of the month whether I received a place, and after reading the other short stories, I’m not sure I will win any awards. However, I can still win the Reader’s Choice Awards, which you can vote on here.
2. I will be teaching a writing and marketing class with my friend.
My friend and I would like to be able to work from home, so we started a program where we teach freelance and fiction writing. We are blessed to have a facility here in town to start teaching and enough extra money to create website and fliers. We started our own Facebook group and plan on starting in May. If you wouldn’t mind, could you share our website with your friends on Facebook? We would love to have more students than we need when we begin.
3. I am on Chapter Two of my second book, Tala.
After finishing Etania, I needed a new project. After prayer and advice from several of my friends, I decided to start writing the “first” book in my series, called Tala. This book focuses on Etania’s mother and how she came to be who she is in my “second” book. Let’s just say Tala’s life isn’t as great as Etania’s, but her journey to reach that life and her encounter with God will change her life for the better.
4. I am on Page 20 of my edit of Etania.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably wondering why I haven’t gotten farther than I am on editing my first book. Well, I have a confession to make. I hate editing my own story. That’s right, me-who is an English major and loves helping others with their stories, hates editing her own story. It takes time, effort and concentration. I just wish I could do it right the first time. But as many have said, the first draft is always a bad draft. That’s why we do rewrites. I will try to get it done soon though! I just need more time….
5. My husband blessed me by cleaning up our office.
So far we have my desk set up, the bookshelves organized, and almost all the boxes unpacked. I am so grateful for my husband, who spent the majority of his break doing this for me when I am busy almost three or four nights out of the week. Now, I just need to tackle a few of the leftover boxes that are full of my things. And he has to tackle his boxes of his things. Yeah, I don’t think I want to move again any time soon. But I do enjoy having the office mostly ready for my musing mind.
Thank you for reading my news. Every single one of you mean so much to me. You all encourage me to continue, even when life gets in the way. So thank you, and I hope you’ll be here again for next week’s Five Minute Friday!
