5 Components of My New Beauty Project

5 Components of My New Beauty Project

5 Components of My New Beauty Project

Starting soon, I will be interviewing women biweekly to hear their stories. Their stories will form what I entitle as a “Beauty” project. But before I go into what the components of the Beauty project will be, I wanted to let you know what lead me to start the Beauty project. (If you don’t have time to read, feel free to go to the first five points) The idea began with my blog post about beauty, found here. Many women commented and/or shared this post, which I found intriguing. Why would a simple rant about beauty cause so much reaction?

5 Ways to Have an Abundant Life

5 Ways to Have an Abundant Life

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.-John 10:10 Jesus came to give us an abundant life. That doesn’t mean he came to give us a happy life, but a fulfilled one in him. Many Christians have suffered and are suffering but they still claim an abundant life. The disciples themselves were killed as martyrs; John, the writer of the gospel, was poisoned, boiled in oil and then marooned on an island to die. Yet, he wouldn’t trade any of it for Jesus. Why? What makes his

5 Reasons the Holy Spirit is “better” than Jesus

5 Reasons the Holy Spirit is “better” than Jesus

The Holy Spirit and Jesus are one and the same, but the Holy Spirit isn’t limited by human constraints. Jesus was/is a living and breathing human being. That means he needed to eat, sleep, and travel by foot. He couldn’t be in more place than once and he was constantly surrounded by crowds. Can you imagine if he had chosen to stay on Earth? He would have lines so long that you and I would be unable to reach him. The Holy Spirit doesn’t have those constraints. He can be anywhere a believer is, and he can speak to a

5 Reasons to Fast Forty Days

5 Reasons to Fast Forty Days

I ended a 40 day fast from desserts on February 19, 2017. I must admit those 40 days were hard and enlightening all at the same time. But the five lessons I learned from fasting are ones that you can embrace as well if you choose to go on a 40 day fast. Fasting provides answers to important questions. Do you ever feel lost or unsure about an action you’re taking? I suggest fasting. Fasting 40 days is more powerful than one day because you feel the answer more strongly when fasting for 40 days versus just one. I felt

5 Updates from Marie

5 Updates from Marie

It’s the end of February, and that means I give you five updates about my writing, my life and what projects I want to undertake in the next 30 days.  Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions. Etania is currently under the editor’s pen. I received the feedback from my beta readers and editors so that I can now work on Etania, one page at a time. I am also reading Structuring Your Novel and Creating Character Arcs by K.M. Weiland. Both of these books probably should’ve been ones I read before starting to write, but now

5 Ways to Find Your Purpose

5 Ways to Find Your Purpose

Rethink the definitions of passion, purpose and calling. The first person to make me rethink this is the author and entrepreneur Jeff Goins. He talks about what calling is in his book, The Art of Work. I’ve recommended it before in my review here if you want to read it. For now, I’ll go over it briefly. According to Jeff, a calling is a portfolio of your entire life-not just your job or occupation like many people think. Instead, that portfolio includes what you do for your family and your church in addition to your job. I agree with Jeff’s definition

5 Love Lessons

5 Love Lessons

What is love? It is that feeling created by hormones and heartbeats? Or is it something more? In the Bible, God is love. Most people quote from 1 Corinthians 13 when they try to define love. But love isn’t a set of attributes, and it’s certainly not feelings. Love is a commitment and a covenant. Love is a decision. It’s an everyday, every moment decision to continue to show love with actions, even when your heart doesn’t care. This sounds impossible, and I would say it is-without God in the middle of it. The truth is that people will do something that

5 Lessons from God

5 Lessons from God

This past weekend was crazy. I moved into my apartment, which was not clean, and then had to clean it/organize it. I still have tons of boxes to unpack and I couldn’t find my tablet until Wednesday. But through it all, God brought me closer than ever to him and to understanding what he would like me to do in my life. These next five points are the ones that stood out to me.   The Holy Spirit is a real and active person of the Trinity So often, Christians ignore the Holy Spirit because of the “strange” ways the

5 Updates from Marie

5 Updates from Marie

At the end of each month, I like to do a short update of what I have been up to so that my followers can know how long it will be until I finish the next book, why I might not be responding to emails, and overall fun facts. So, what five things is it this time? My husband and I applied and were accepted into an apartment. After searching and wondering and praying, we finally are able to move out of my parent’s house and into our own place! We are so excited to start establishing a place to

5 Ways to Research for a Book

5 Ways to Research for a Book

Researching for a book isn’t an easy process, but it’s not an impossible task either. Many writers state they don’t need to research, but can write their stories by the seat of their pants. I beg to differ, for even pantsers will eventually start researching how long it takes for someone to die of poison (I promise we aren’t serial killers!). Usually the first place writers turn to is the internet. However, that’s only one way to research while writing because there’s at least four other ways to research: books, experts, logical reasoning, and trial and error. The World Wide
